you and me both, cat!
SO my cat looks like I feel:
pooped.
It has been a great week, but very busy here! First, my best friend and his girlfriend stopped by on their cross-country roadtrip….
they were doing contact dance and gymnastics in the living room. You know, like you do (LOL).
we went on a picnic together,
and toured downtown Ithaca (I won a free rose here!)
we walked around the lily pond in Cornell’s Plantations and listened to the frogs in the evening. Some bird dropped a feather here.
After they left, my brother and his wife (the Brazilian) came over from michigan to spend the 4th here.
we went on a drive to Skaneatles, a Finger Fake and town to the east of us
where the water is crystal-clear
and got some homemade malts and super-fresh fish at Doug’s Fish Fry
for the 4th, I threw a party down by Cayuga Lake.
my thesis advisor and a bunch of grad students came.
we sat on the dock, watched the sunset,
and then the fireworks. It was lovely.
the next day, my husband, my brother and sister-in-law and I went kayaking.
I forgot my sunglasses, so had to wear my Grandpa’s old wraparounds (I’m trying to make a ‘cool’ face here )
David and Mariana took it all VERY seriously.
the ducks took no notice of our boats; we bumped right into this flotilla.
we went on another picnic, this time in the beautiful Cornell plantations.
after dinner we went on a walk and checked out all the lovely flora in bloom
It’s been a blast, but I am getting pretty tired! And I miss my daily blog fix! and DON’T EVEN ASK whether I am getting any work done on my dissertation! Too busy hostessing.
apparently I fell asleep here—
Well, I hope you are all well, and I hope to write my final Tauer review tomorrow!
Yours,
La Bonne Vivante

Lovely post - awesome pics! Looks like you had a great time with friends and loved ones - that's really what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteWell, that, and smelling good!
I did, Joosephine! Like your trip to the mountains, it was a great time. They just left this morning, and I am abou tot settle into the old routine!
ReplyDeleteAnother note: I made a freudian slip--I meant to say Finger Lake, not Finger Fake!
Skaneatles, you have live in the region in order to pronounce it correctly (Skinny Atlas).
ReplyDeleteyup.
ReplyDeleteThese Native American names really prove a good litmus test for local wannabes around here!
Thanks, BTW, for stopping by! I just discovered your blog, and like it lots!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this glimpse into the Life of La Bonne Vivante-- feels like we got to go on holiday with you! :)
ReplyDeleteI love photo stories :) Bellatrix
ReplyDeleteThanks Olenska!I am always on holiday in my mind! (LOL!)
ReplyDeleteBellatrix, me too! They are so much easier to 'read'....
What a fantastic set of photos capturing your holiday fun! And your cat pic is very cute too. We had one like that called Miro (to rhyme with Robert de Niro, not Spiro Giro), but he died last year, sadly.
ReplyDeleteIf you are happy about the Spanish win, you will be pleased to learn that the psychic octopus in Oberhausen just picked Spain today as the winner of the final on Sunday! This is his first selection that does not involve Germany - but he has not been wrong once so far....
Well, if Paul says so, it must be true!
ReplyDeleteSorry you lost your Miro--if he's anything like Oliver, he must have been a delight.
Thanks for you kind words about the pics. It was a fun break from the usual!
