everything’s coming up roses

The Garden of Live FlowersIt’s funny, but after I posted my rose drawing and giveaway in honor of my 90th post, I noticed that a lot of the other fragrance blogs I follow were also posting articles about rose fragrances. Isn’t it funny how something is just in the air like that, and a bunch of people are thinking about something simultaneously? Because so many bloggers have been writing cool things about roses this week, I figured I would link you, dear readers, to their lovely posts. Because there is no such thing as too many roses, right?

First, Donna at PST narrating the battle of two epic rose fragrances here. Signature Scent musing about the ubiquity of roses via Stella McCartney’s Nude here. At WAFT, a review of Frederic Malle’s Lipstick rose here. the non-blonde about her preferment of Stella’s peony scent Stella in II to her first rosy creation here. The Scented Salamander’s exhaustive review of Bond no.9’s new rose here.

Enjoy, and I’ll post a review of some fruity rose smellies—not my favorite category of rose scents, generally—soon. Cheers, and enjoy your browsing.

  2. Great blog!

And yes, isn't it funny that a certain topic just kind of appears out of nowhere all by itself? I was just thinking the same thing recently after a visit to another great fragrance site, "Bergamotto e Benzino" (written in Italian and English: http://bergamottoebenzoino.blogspot.com/#uds-search-results), where there was so very much going on regarding roses. And then, while back home in Seattle, I discovered a good friend wearing Byredo's exquisite "Rose Noir". (I also think Amouage's "Lyric Man" is an excellent rose scent, but it'd be too opulent for most men, surely; better for the gals. Or what do you think?)
Take care, and I'll be stopping by again soon.

  3. HI Michael, and welcome! I will have to check out Bergamotto and Benzino; my Italian is a bit rusty, but I like to try to keep these things up. I have smelled Rose Noir on others, but haven't sampled it for myself yet. I love everything they do, so I'm sure I'll love it when I wear it myself. I, alas, haven't tried either the feminine or masculine Lyrics, but intend to as soon as possible. Thanks for the suggestions, and I hope to hear more from you soon!
